Why an outfit is personal
A lot of you voted on my poll that you wanted to see more of the outfits that I wear and how I pick them. Certainly I was super flattered, but then I sent myself into an overthinking panic. I started googling how OTHER people pick their outfits so that I could spruce up the post I was going to write and sound like I knew what I was talking about. It was so silly. I finally calmed down and realized that it's okay to be exactly who I am and to share that with y'all. This post was originally supposed to be solely about my outfits and how I pick them out and tips on getting dressed in the morning, but then I realized how personal it is to create an outfit. I realized how we dress sometimes for validation and we immitate outfits we see for the approval of others. If there is one thing I can share with y'all it is the ability to stop giving a fuck what other people think and be yourself fully. Even if that is someone who owns unlimited cheetah print items, sparkles galore, and a hat for every outfit.
I was really struggling to come up with tips for you all and then it hit me that my real secret is actually kind of funny. Secret: I set my outfits out at night. Yep, that's right. The secret to my outfits is that I scroll on pinterest and instagram at night and look at fashions and recreate outfits I like from the clothes in my closet. I hardly ever have the exact outfit I see, but I always have something similar and can create based off of that. I also am very clear on what my personal style is and what I like. I very much do not care what anyone else thinks and it has taken me a really long time to get there. I used to change my outfits based on the people I was going to see because I didn't want to seem too extra, hear the comments about my outfits, or seem like I was trying too hard simply because I like layers, sparkles, cheetah print, and most things that stand out. Something that no one ever says is that its completely okay to wear whatever the hell you want. It is okay to attend brunch in sweats when all of your friends are in heels. It is also okay to be the only person dressed up when everyone else is casual. If someone doesn't like you based on the outfit you chose that is their own personal problem and is none of your business.
someone else's opinion of you is none of your business.
The sooner you embrace that phrase the better you will feel and the easier picking an outfit becomes. If you still feel yourself struggling to find a outfit go with my tried and true quick morning outfit. Jeans, t-shirt, cute jacket, sneakers. This look is never going out of style and everyone, guys included, can rock the shit out of it. Now to the fun stuff. Many photos of my outfits!
